Help & Information

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about art prints, poster sizes, framing, print types, and finding the right artwork for your space.

Is Art Prints N Posters a store where I can buy prints?
No -- we're an art discovery and information hub, not a print store. We don't sell prints directly. We help you identify the right artwork, understand its history and context, learn what print format and size work best, and find where to source quality prints from reputable suppliers.
What is the difference between a giclée print and a standard poster?
A giclée print uses museum-quality archival inks and fine art paper, producing exceptional color accuracy and longevity (100+ years when properly framed). A standard poster is printed on lighter paper stock with commercial inks. The quality gap is significant -- giclée prints reproduce subtle tonal gradations that standard posters often lose, especially in dark or heavily shadowed areas.
How do I know if an artwork is in the public domain?
In the United States, artwork created before 1928 is generally in the public domain. Works by artists who died more than 70 years ago are typically public domain in most countries (though rules vary). Many famous artworks -- Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt, Hokusai -- are in the public domain, which is why high-quality prints of their work are widely available.
What size art print should I buy for my living room?
For a primary living room wall, start with 24x36 as a minimum. For large walls or over a sofa, 30x40 or larger reads well at room scale. A useful rule: the artwork should fill at least 60-70% of the wall width it's hung on. Our Poster Size Guide has detailed recommendations for every room type.
What art movements are most popular for home prints?
Impressionism (especially Monet and Renoir) remains the most broadly popular. Post-Impressionism (Van Gogh above all) is consistently in demand. Abstract and Bauhaus prints have risen sharply with mid-century modern interior trends. Japanese woodblock prints (Hokusai, Hiroshige) have strong coastal and minimalist appeal. Surrealism and Art Nouveau have dedicated followings for eclectic interiors.
Where can I download your art data?
Our structured art data is available as machine-readable JSON files: artists at /data/artists.json, artworks at /data/artworks.json. These are open endpoints -- no API key required. We also offer a site summary at /llm.json and a plain-text version at /llm.txt for AI and research applications.
Can I use your data for a commercial project?
Our structured data is open for use, attribution appreciated. The artwork descriptions, guide text, and editorial content are original writing -- please do not reproduce them wholesale. For substantial data licensing or custom research, use the contact link in the footer.
What is the Art Constellation?
The Art Constellation is a network of art-focused web properties: Art Prints N Posters (art discovery and data), DigitalArtistLife.com (for working artists), AIArtistLife.com (AI and creative practice), FineInkPrints.com (fine print culture), and BuyArtWeb.com (art marketplace resources). The sites cross-reference and complement each other.
